Sweepstakes shipwreck

The Sweepstakes was built in 1867 as a two-masted schooner in Burlington, Ontario by John Simpson.
The ship's length is 36.3m (119ft) and lays just below the surface in Big Tub Harbour with a maximum depth of 7m (20ft).
The Sweepstakes was damaged off Cove Island, then towed to Big Harbour where she sank in 1885.
The hull is still intact, with the windlass and a portion of the bow rail still in place.
A perfect wreck for novice divers and snorkellers.
Please pay attention to the controlled access schedule since the glassbottom tour boats come here as well.
It is number 1 on the dive site location map.
